Israeli strikes rock Tehran, explosions reported

Published on: March 3, 2026 10:45 PM

Tehran experienced fresh explosions Tuesday evening as the Israeli army launched a large-scale strike on the city. The attack targets Iran’s critical military and nuclear infrastructure, heightening regional tensions. Civilians and residents in central neighborhoods are directly affected by the bombardment.

The Israeli military said the operation aimed at the “Iranian terror regime’s infrastructure” across Tehran. Multiple warplanes were reportedly involved, marking one of the largest waves of strikes since the weekend escalation. Officials emphasized that the strikes are intended to degrade Iran’s strategic military capabilities.

Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported attacks around Revolution Square, causing damage to residential units. Mehr news agency confirmed strikes in the Mehrabad neighborhood. Observers on the ground heard continuous explosions and saw smoke rising from multiple areas.

Tensions escalated after a joint US-Israel operation on Saturday killed nearly 800 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran responded with drone and missile strikes on Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. The ongoing exchange signals a potential wider conflict in the Middle East.

Local authorities continue emergency response efforts as the situation develops. Residents are advised to remain indoors while regional governments monitor further escalations. International agencies have called for restraint to prevent civilian casualties amid ongoing airstrikes.
