Pakistan and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on counterterrorism, cybercrime investigations and law enforcement during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and FBI Director Kash Patel in Washington.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where Patel welcomed the Pakistani delegation and described the relationship between the two countries as a “critical partnership.”
In a statement shared on social media, Patel thanked Pakistan for its continued support in protecting US interests in the region. He said the discussions focused on expanding cooperation in combating terrorism financing and enhancing cyber investigation capabilities through additional resources and specialised training.

According to Patel, both sides explored ways to improve collaboration between law enforcement agencies to address evolving security threats at both national and international levels. He expressed optimism that the partnership would continue to produce positive results in the future.
Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Washington after representing Pakistan at the Fifth United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS) in New York, where he held meetings with senior officials from various countries on the sidelines of the conference. His visit is part of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with international partners on security and policing issues.

The latest meeting follows an earlier engagement between Naqvi and Patel in Washington in September 2025. At the time, the Pakistani interior minister said discussions had covered illegal immigration, counterterrorism cooperation and officer exchange programmes aimed at strengthening institutional ties between the two countries.
Security cooperation has remained an important element of Pakistan-US relations despite broader political and regional challenges. Both countries have continued to work together on issues including counterterrorism, financial crime, cyber security and information sharing.

The meeting reflects the mutual interest of Islamabad and Washington in enhancing law enforcement collaboration to address transnational security challenges. Officials from both sides indicated that continued coordination, training initiatives and institutional cooperation will remain key priorities as they seek to strengthen bilateral security relations in the years ahead.
