Veteran Pakistani actor Bushra Ansari has praised Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s latest film Satluj, saying its emotional portrayal of a painful chapter in history deeply affected her and left her unable to sleep.

In a video shared on her Instagram account, Ansari said she had heard a great deal about the film before watching it, but its powerful storytelling exceeded her expectations. She described the experience as heartbreaking, adding that she grieved for the people of Indian Punjab after seeing the events depicted on screen.
The senior actor commended Dosanjh for choosing to address a sensitive and difficult subject through cinema. She said filmmakers who take on such themes with honesty and courage deserve appreciation for highlighting historical realities that are often overlooked.
Reflecting on the story, Ansari said one of the most painful aspects was watching people from the same community turn against one another. She remarked that similar tragedies have affected both sides of the border and stressed the importance of remembering such events.
She also questioned whether people with unwavering principles and courage still exist today. According to Ansari, earlier generations included individuals who were willing to sacrifice everything for their beliefs, integrity, and communities, but such examples appear increasingly rare in modern times.
Ansari further revealed that the film had such a profound emotional impact on her that she had been unable to sleep properly after watching it. Encouraging others to see the film, she noted that although it was reportedly removed from its original streaming platform in India shortly after release, it remains available online.

Satluj is inspired by the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who investigated allegations of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings during the insurgency in Indian Punjab. Khalra was later abducted and murdered, and several police officers were eventually convicted for their involvement in his killing.
