Princess of Wales delights crowd with playful Ascot moment

Published on: June 18, 2026 8:29 PM

The Princess of Wales made a warmly received return to Royal Ascot, attending the prestigious Berkshire racecourse for the first time since 2023. Her appearance drew significant attention from spectators and royal watchers, marking one of the most talked-about moments of the event.

Princess Catherine arrived in a carriage alongside Prince William, joining other senior royals and guests during the traditional Royal Ascot procession. The carriage ride formed part of the ceremonial highlight that defines the British summer social calendar and attracts global interest each year.

During the procession, a light-hearted moment unfolded when a young spectator called out “Princess Kate,” catching her attention. She immediately responded with a smile and wave, and when the child looked away shyly, she laughed and said, “I can still see you,” creating a memorable interaction with the crowd.

For the occasion, the Princess wore a daffodil yellow outfit designed by Roksanda, paired with an elegant hat by milliner Jane Taylor. Her coordinated appearance with Prince William, who wore subtle floral accents, added to the visual charm of the royal procession.

Meanwhile, the Princess spent time with family members at the Windsor Enclosure, including Lady Sarah Chatto, Daniel Chatto, and her mother Carole Middleton. Her relaxed presence throughout the day reflected a positive return to public royal duties after a period of reduced appearances.

Overall, her appearance at Royal Ascot combined tradition, elegance and personal warmth, strengthening her connection with the public. The playful exchange with the young fan quickly became one of the standout moments of the event, widely appreciated by attendees and observers alike.
