US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that Washington is prepared to act again if Iran fails to fulfill its commitments under the new agreement. He said the deal was achieved from a position of strength and would be strictly enforced. The warning underscores continued pressure on Tehran despite recent diplomatic progress.
Speaking after a NATO defense ministers’ meeting in Brussels, Hegseth said the United States would closely monitor Iran’s compliance. He stressed that any failure to meet agreed obligations would trigger a response. According to the defense secretary, Washington remains committed to protecting its interests and regional stability.
Hegseth said a renewed and robust maritime blockade could be imposed if Iran violates the terms of the agreement. He noted that enforcement measures remain available and that the United States is prepared to use them if necessary. The remarks highlighted the administration’s determination to ensure implementation of the deal.
Meanwhile, the US defense chief said military deployments in the Middle East would continue to be reviewed according to developments on the ground. He added that several European countries are willing to play a more active role in security operations around the Strait of Hormuz. Such cooperation could strengthen efforts to safeguard critical shipping routes.
Hegseth also rejected suggestions that the agreement involved concessions to Iran. He said negotiations were backed by American military strength and sustained pressure throughout the process. His comments came as international stakeholders prepare for the next phase of discussions aimed at implementing the US-Iran accord.
