High-level defence talks deepen Pakistan-Bangladesh partnership

The air chief of Bangladesh, ACM Hasan Mahmood Khan, visited Pakistan on Thursday to discuss enhancing defence cooperation. He held separate meetings with Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf. Both sides discussed regional security, joint training, and strengthening military collaboration.

At the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, ACM Khan praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces. CDF Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering enduring defence ties with Bangladesh. The two leaders emphasized professional collaboration, bilateral training exchanges, and joint exercises to boost operational synergy.

ACM Khan also met Admiral Ashraf at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad. They discussed regional maritime security and ways to enhance naval cooperation between the two countries. Both sides agreed to increase the frequency of high-level visits and joint exercises to strengthen ties.

The visit follows Admiral Ashraf’s trip to Dhaka in November 2025, during which he held talks with Bangladesh’s military leadership. The ISPR noted that ACM Khan’s delegation discussed potential procurement of JF-17 Thunder aircraft. The meetings reflect deepening defence relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The Bangladeshi air chief is leading a high-level defence delegation in Pakistan. Both countries highlighted the importance of joint initiatives to ensure regional stability. The visits underscore a long-standing partnership and shared commitment to security and professional military cooperation.
