ATC issues arrest warrants for KP CM

Published on: June 16, 2026 8:57 AM

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday issued arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi in connection with the October 4 protest case involving the killing of a police official. The court, presided over by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, also declared former opposition leader Omar Ayub, Amir Mughal, Hafeez-ur-Rehman and other accused as proclaimed offenders due to their continued absence from court proceedings despite repeated summons. During the hearing, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leader Azam Swati appeared before the court. The prosecution recorded the statement of another witness, while proceedings against Swati continued. Following the hearing, the court adjourned further proceedings until June 22. The case was registered at Noon Police Station and relates to the October 4 protest in Islamabad, during which a police officer was reportedly martyred.
